Harry Potter Flying Keys

Inspired by the flying keys in the first book of the series, I made these keys. Let’s jump in!

Materials needed:

• Black permanent marker
• Old packaging plastic
• Thread
• Antique metal keys (found similar ones on etsy) /clay keys
• Pair of Scissors
• Hot Glue Gun
• Flying key wing template
• Tape

Step 1- Start by taping a flying key wing template to the inner side of your plastic. (I hadn’t found a flying key wing template earlier, so, I used a butterfly wing template.) Trace it with a black permanent marker and fill in the wing.

 

Step 2- Cut out the coloured-in wing .

Step 4- Bend it in half.

Step 4- Choose out your key. I found some metal antique ones online that looked like the real ones. An alternative is to use clay keys. Glue your keys in the middle of the wings.

Step 5- Tie a piece of thread to the two ends of your key.

Your flying keys are now complete!
